Curriculum

Nine days, one building

Each day has a goal, the concepts you need, one hands-on exercise on the same small building, and checkpoints you should be able to do from memory before moving on. Budget 3–5 hours a day. Skipping the exercise is skipping the day.

Your progress0/690%
  1. Day0Setup & install0/5Have Revit installed, a project template you understand, and a folder structure that survives nine days of work.Modeling45 min
  2. Day1The mental model0/8Explain why changing one element changed twelve others, and place walls that are correctly hosted on levels and grids.ModelingTeam fluency3–4 hrs
  3. Day2The building shell0/8Have a complete two-storey building with floors, a roof, stairs between levels, openings, and a site — no errors and no warnings you don't understand.Modeling4–5 hrs
  4. Day3Views & graphics0/8Diagnose any 'my element isn't showing' problem in under a minute, and control graphics through templates rather than by hand.DocumentationTeam fluency3–4 hrs
  5. Day4Families & parameters0/8Build a parametric loadable family from scratch that flexes correctly, and know which kind of parameter to reach for and why.ModelingAutomationTeam fluency4–5 hrs
  6. Day5Rooms, schedules & data0/8Get real information out of the model, and use schedules as your primary quality-control tool.DocumentationTeam fluencyAutomation3–4 hrs
  7. Day6The drawing set0/8Issue a real, coordinated PDF drawing set from your model — cover sheet through details — with nothing typed twice.Documentation4–5 hrs
  8. Day7Worksharing & teams0/8Work correctly in a multi-user model, link and coordinate another discipline, and speak the language of a BIM coordination meeting.Team fluencyDocumentation3–4 hrs
  9. Day8Automation0/8Read data out of the model and write it back with code, and know which of Dynamo / pyRevit / a compiled add-in fits a given problem.Automation4–5 hrs

The four tracks

Every day is tagged with what it serves. If you only care about one track, follow its tag — but do Days 0–2 regardless.

Modeling
Build the building. Geometry, hosting, constraints, systems.
Documentation
Turn the model into a drawing set someone can build from.
Team fluency
Worksharing, standards, coordination, and the vocabulary.
Automation
Dynamo, pyRevit, the Revit API, and model data.
